The Devotional Journey

Welcome

This Bible reading journey through Scripture will take us on a trek from Genesis to Revelation.

The Bible is a library of 66 books that chronicles God’s history with creation and mankind. The Bible is God’s record of His history and truth, recorded over a span of 1,500 years by about 40 writers, known as prophets. In Scripture, God recorded history, from the creation of the universe in Genesis to the recreation of the universe in Revelation 22, which will happen in the future.

In 400+ devotional readings, we’re going to follow God’s progressive revelation about Himself, mankind and world history. We use the word progressive because as time moves forward, God reveals more and more about Himself so that we get a clearer and clearer picture of how He made us, loves us and wants a relationship with each one of us.

As we journey with God, the readings will help us understand God’s character: who He is and what He is like. The readings will help us learn how we can relate to Him. Reflection questions for each reading help us to think more deeply about our own journey in life with God. 


So let’s take this journey—one reading at a time—and get to know the Creator-God of the universe and His plans for the world He made.

How to use these devotions

These devotional readings are to be read in order. The readings are grouped into sets, each headed by a “Tour Stop”. The tour stops are not devotions, but each one is a small overview of the set of devotions. Whenever you come to a tour stop, read it through to get an idea of what’s up ahead and then read the next devotion.

You can read the devotions daily or as often as you can. Because we follow God’s chronological revelation, you will benefit the most from regular reading (whether daily or several times a week).

For each devotion, first read the Scripture passage. Then read the commentary. The commentary provides some context and explanation and some thoughts for prayer and personal reflection.
